Sanjay Ghodawat University (SGU) was established in 2017 as a State Private University, evolving from Sanjay Ghodawat Institutes (SGI), which was founded in 2009. SGI had already achieved NAAC A grade accreditation, with its programs also accredited by the NBA, making its transition into a full-fledged university a natural progression. The university was established with the aim of expanding educational opportunities and providing students with a diverse range of academic choices. SGU offers undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG), and PhD programs in various disciplines, including Technology, Management, Commerce, Science, Liberal Arts, Architecture, Pharmacy, and Computer Applications.  

The university is known for its industry-aligned curriculum and a choice-based credit system (CBCS), which allows students to select major and minor specializations according to their interests. SGU promotes a multi-disciplinary approach that enhances students' creativity, problem-solving skills, and employability. To ensure hands-on learning and industry exposure, the university has established advanced training centers such as the Tata Technology Centre, Mechatronics Lab Car, BOSCH Collaboration Centre, and the Centre for Space and Atmospheric Science.  

SGU’s 165-acre campus is designed to provide a world-class learning environment with modern infrastructure and amenities. The university features smart classrooms, well-equipped laboratories, a food court, an amphitheater, and a stadium with floodlights. Additionally, students have access to a swimming pool, a horse-riding facility, and various sports courts, ensuring a holistic educational experience.

The School of Commerce and Management was named a "Top Emerging B-School" by the Times B-School Survey 2020, while the School of Technology ranked 4th among the top emerging engineering institutes in India. Additionally, SGU was ranked 9th in the placement category and 2nd in research capabilities by the Times Ranking 2020.
